Ahead of the release of her tell-all book, ‘The Woman in Me’, Britney Spears has been sharing some exerts with media organizations across the world. Yesterday, she released a passage from the book that revealed she had an abortion when she was dating Justin Timberlake more than 20 years ago.

The anticipation for the book’s release is increasing by the day, with Spears set to reveal all about her life after her court-ordered conservatorship was terminated two years ago. The revelation about the abortion is a heartbreaking one and one that the international superstar clearly looks back on with sadness. Talking about it in her book, she said:

“Getting pregnant was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.

“Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it and yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.

“To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”

Could the abortion have ended their relationship?

From 1999 to 2002, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were one of the most talked-about couples in Hollywood. When they announced their split, Spears said that they were both “climbing very different mountains” however she may reveal more about it in her new book.

Based on the information known at this moment in time, there is no indication of when the abortion took place or if it had any bearing on the breakdown of the relationship. There have also been allegations of cheating from both sides in the past, something that will undoubtedly be covered in Spears’ new book.

After her relationship with the “Cry Me a River” hitmaker, Spears went on to spontaneously marry long-time friend, Jason Alexander, in a ceremony in Las Vegas. After that marriage was annulled, she then met Kevin Federline who she was married to for a little over two years.

During that marriage, she had her two sons – Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17. However, the marriage ended shortly after the birth of Jayden due to “irreconcilable differences” and a battle ensued over custody of the children.

Spears then married for a third time in June 2022, this time to Sam Asghari who she had dated for six years. Sadly, this marriage has also recently come to an end with the pair divorcing in August.

The countdown is on

It is now less than a week until the release of the highly-anticipated memoir with “The Woman in Me” to hit the shelves on October 24th via Gallery Books

Ahead of its release, the publisher has said that the book “will reveal for the first time her incredible journey and strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history.”

“It illuminates the enduring power of music and love and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms.”
